Funding Program: Byrne Justice Assitance Grant (JAG)

The Sheriff’s Office will be receiving ARRA funding in the amount of $920,495 through the Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant (JAG) Formula Program. The Sheriff’s Office will retain $66,505 of the overall $920,495 with the remainder of the funding being allocated to 10 cities within Johnson County on a reimbursement basis. The Sheriff’s Office will assume the role of fiscal agent for the purposes of this grant and will administer the financial and programmatic requirements. The eligible agencies will use their funds to purchase upgrades for computer systems, police cruisers, video surveillance systems, automatic license plate recognition systems, and for other similar purposes.

Funding Program: S.T.O.P Violence Against Women Act

Johnson County's 10th Judicial Court received a $41,655 ARRA S.T.O.P. Violence Against Women Act grant through the Governor's Office of the State of Kansas. The grant award will go to fund a one-half time bond supervision officer with District Court Services.

Funding Program: Byrne Justice Assitance Grant (JAG)

The County's Corrections Department received a $49,562 ARRA Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant through the Kansas Criminal Justice Coordinating Council. The funding will support the department's existing Relapse Prevention Counselor position for part of the 2009 fiscal year.
